How does carved metal differ from enamel?
A vintage pin is three-dimensional, carved (die-struck) metal — the look is built by the relief itself and the antique plating, not by enamel fill. The surface has raised areas and recesses that catch the light and create natural shadows, giving the effect of a coin or medal. Classic enamel, by contrast, is flat and smooth, with clearly separated fields of vivid colour.
Can colour or enamel be added to the vintage version?
Yes. By default the pin stays as bare metal with an antique finish, but we can add partial enamel in selected recesses — for example to highlight a crest, a background or a single colour accent. The metal keeps its carved character and colour appears only where it should draw attention.
Which plating finishes are available?
You can choose aged (antique) gold, silver, copper and black nickel. Each one emphasises the relief differently — the patina gathers in the recesses and brings out the detail, so the pin looks like a collectible badge. When we quote, we’ll advise on the finish that best suits your design.
What is the minimum order?
The minimum order is 50 pieces. The unit price drops as the quantity grows — at a few hundred pieces the difference is significant. The die or mould is made once, so repeat runs of the same design are cheaper.
How do I prepare a 3D / relief design?
Just a logo, crest or sketch in any format (vector is best: AI, PDF, SVG — but we’ll also take PNG or JPG). Our designer will develop the 3D relief design free of charge — mapping the depth planes, choosing the plating finish and preparing a visualisation. We only start production once you approve the final proof.
